At the end of the Spring term, our Admin Manager, Elaine, sadly retired after about 28 years at school. We gave her a great send off with parties,songs,gifts and assemblies but then as the new term started on Monday 19th April, her job became mine! (I had undergone a difficult interview after being shortlisted to 4 from 67 applications, and made it through to take the post!! WOW!)
Anyway, I was very nervous on my first day, even more so because Claire, my colleague in the office was stuck in Spain due to the Volcanic ash cloud!! All pre-arranged I am sure!
And so the first four days of my new job I was Admin Manager and 2 Admin assistants rolled into one! Thankfully I was helped by two brilliant work experience students and by everyone at school! It was certainly a fun way to start a new job...
