Well that's it! Oliver! has finished it's run at the Plaza Theatre. Cameron was quite poorly for the last 3 shows, having little voice left and finding it very hard to sing. On Friday evening it was all too much and singing solos were not an option as he struggled to even talk. Millie (Dodger) sang 'Where is Love ?' via a microphone at the back of the auditorium while Cam mimed. It was so sad, after months of hard work,to watch him struggle through. But Millie was brilliant and helped him through many of the other songs, singing his part for him to save his throat. It was much the same on the two Saturday shows but at least Cameron did manage a croaky solo of 'Where is love?' on both of them. He was so pale on stage, he didn't need much make-up!
It is great news that the Debut Youth Theatre are going to do a shortened version of Oliver! for the March charity concert for Europe to Europe in the Shirley Salvation Army Hall. Cameron will have another chance to sing his solos, hopefully without a throat infection this time.
Millie and Cameron - they performed so well together
It was so good that so many people went to see the show...thank you if you are reading this and went to it!!!
Cameron is now sound asleep in bed. I really can't believe how he has managed to keep going.
Daniel has loved being part of the lighting crew and we are now(gone midnight) waiting for him to return after helping take the set down - back to the reality of GCSE coursework tomorrow!
