And so to our last day with Val and Rich....
Val,Cameron and I spent the morning at Henley School, Richmond, a large primary school, with a link on the same campus to a secondary school. This was the school that Anna and Marcus attended when they were little and it is now the school where Anna and Tracey teach! We arranged to visit Tracey's class (Year 1 equivalent) and spend some time with the children talking about Oakwood,Oscar the school bear and our travels.
The children were fascinated by all three and enjoyed Cameron reading them a story with his English accent!
But it was the play facilities that had the 'WOW' factor. Cameron was allowed to spend some time in the adventure playground, with its slides, tyres and climbing ropes. It was fantastic. And this wasn't the only playground either! Oscar enjoyed it too!
It was a lovely school, but sadly they didn't need an Admin assistant! They did however have the same problems as Oakwood with their lost property!
While we were learning about the NZ education system, Daniel was having a quad bike lesson from Richard. The last time he had a go on a quad bike, at Pontins (aged 9), he was advised never to go on one again by the instructor! I was not too keen on him driving one, but after much pestering by Daniel and assurance that he would be safe by Rich, I gave in.
I needn't have worried...Dan listened well to Rich and showed that he could be sensible! Trouble is though, it was impossible to get him off the bike once he had started.
